3G is the third generation cellular protocol that will support increase voice capacity and high-speed data transfer. Developed by the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), this protocol is positioned to accommodate the delivery of rich media to cellular devices.
The 3GP format for streaming media enjoys the most compatibility among the cell phone market. Most, but not all, of the proprietary and 3rd party streaming players are able to play 3GP compatible content. If there is a specific model of phone that you want to target, it is best that you know which formats are compatible with that phone.
